My name is Danh The Ngoc, the proud owner of Thế Ngọc Ao Dai shop and also the head chef at the Cà Mau Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
Ever since I was a young girl, I've had a deep passion for the beauty of traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai. However, due to family circumstances, I wasn't able to pursue formal training in Ao Dai tailoring at that time.
But at the age of 58, with my life finally on a more stable path, I decided to chase my dream and take a risk. I traveled over 300km from Cà Mau to Ho Chi Minh City and enrolled in a tailoring course with the most renowned Ao Dai designer in Vietnam - Đỗ Trịnh Hoài Nam. I had many wonderful memories there. One interesting thing was that the 49 students in my class were all under 30 years old, and I was the only one in my fifties, even older than my teacher by 7 years.
My classmates affectionately called me "Bà ngoại" (Grandma) and always showed me extra kindness and attention, which helped me overcome any physical obstacles I faced due to my age.
Now, I'm thrilled to say that I have my very own Ao Dai shop, Thế Ngọc Ao Dai. It's not just a business to make money, but a place where I get to do what I love every day - create beautiful Ao Dai with my own hands.
